This past week a couple of major announcements for central Texas. Amazon corporation announced they would be opening a large facility in Pflugerville, with an expected initial employment of 1,000 full time employees. A couple of days later, they announced they would be opening another center, in Kyle, Texas with an expected employment of 200 full time employees. They already have a major distribution center in San Marcos. Kyle and San Marcos are both just south of Austin. They expect to have hiring started sometime in 2021. Texas State University is also based in San Marcos.
Tesla made their announcement also this week that they would be building their next giga-factory near the Austin airport. Once completed, they are expecting to have 5000 full time employees.
