Labor Day is now behind us and for many schools across our country, including central Texas, this means schools are all back in session. In July, the Texas Education Agency, which has oversight over all education in Texas issued some guidance to the school districts for opening the school year. The covid-19 pandemic is very much a concern of educators and parents. Can you imagine the sudden challenge put on school boards to strike the correct balance between getting students back into class while also keeping everyone safe from the virus? My wife is a teacher with Austin ISD and she was getting updates on when classes would start, how they would start (online or in class) as well as the technology they would be using. In some cases, these updates would be several times a day! She teaches fourth grade at the Gullett Elementary School .
Hopefully, all parents in the schools around Austin are well aware of what their school districts plans are for this school year, but for those who may be coming into the area, and for those who are still not really sure what their schools are doing, I am providing the links to the school district websites for those cities listed in the communities section of my website as well as below:
